Built for simple operations, with high reliability and increased performance!
Caterpillar expands its compactor line with the introduction of the new 84" (2,134 mm) Cat® GC Series, built for simple operations with high reliability and increased performance. Offering a high static linear load and more weight on the roller for superior compaction, the new series consists of the 10-ton CS10 GC, 11-ton CS11 GC and CP11 GC, and 12-ton CS12 GC and CP12 GC. With both smooth roller (CS) and padfoot (CP) models available for compaction of granular and cohesive soils. The new models offer reliable performance for road construction, site preparations, large residential construction, large landfills and agricultural applications.
The new GC Series is powered by the Cat C3.6 120.7 hp (90.0 kW) diesel engine that meets stringent US EPA Tier 4 Final / EU Stage V emissions standards. Standard Eco-Mode operation reduces engine speed to 2,000 RPM to offer up to 10% fuel consumption savings over idle operation. The long engine oil and filter change interval helps reduce maintenance time and costs.
The easy-to-select speed control offers one-button switching from working speed to travel speed. The single propel pump on the rear axle compactors with limited slip differential offers tilt capacity that exceeds expectations up to 55% for the 10 and 11 ton models and up to 50% for the 12 ton models. All compactors feature a low overall height of 3 m (9.8 ft) and improved stowage locations for fast, low-cost transport that meet market regulations.
More Performance and Flexibility
The new GC vibratory compactors feature a unique bag-type vibration system, providing a long service interval of 3 years/3,000 hours for reliable operation. Providing more weight on the roller than in the previous B-Series, these new models offer high compaction performance. Dual amplitude and frequency increases the compaction versatility of the new line in a single button that allows the operator to quickly switch from high to low amplitude.
Additional XT weight kits and ram foot cover kits for the CS smooth roller models increase machine flexibility. The weight kits for the CS10 GC and CS11 GC replace the front bumper and add weights under the fork tube of the CS 11 GC to elevate each model to the next weight class, expanding application capabilities. The same cover kit design as the B-Series converts the GC-Series smooth roller compactors to a ram-footed roller, allowing these machines to efficiently compact cohesive and granular soils.
Simple, comfortable operation
Simplified controls and operation allow the most inexperienced operator to quickly learn the operation of the GC compactor. Digital readouts provide a quick overview of critical operating data and are customizable to operator preference. All major controls are located on the right-hand control for easy access and include propel lever with vibration control, engine throttle and Eco-Mode selection, emergency stop and parking brake. Standard auto vibration automatically starts the machine vibrating based on the position of the propel lever to prevent compaction while not in motion.
The new GC series offers an improved operator platform entry/exit with angled steps, non-slip entry and conveniently located handrails.
Ergonomically grouped controls provide efficient operation, while an ISO-mounted operator station with rubber mat minimizes vibration feedback to reduce fatigue. The machine's design offers superior visibility around the compactor, allowing the operator to quickly see obstructions in the work area effortlessly. The internal and external mirrors offer excellent visibility and the optional rearview camera further expands the operator's view toward the rear of the machine, allowing the operator to quickly see the work area without obstructions or effort.
More Technology
The new, reliable Caterpillar GC Series of compactors features industry-leading service intervals to reduce maintenance costs and keep machines operational. Both hydraulic oil and vibratory system oil have a 3,000 hour/3 year change interval, and engine oil and filter are changed in 500 hours. The articulation joint and battery joint are maintenance-free.
The compactor's design offers convenient access to the hydraulic oil tank, filter, and S∙O∙SSM oil sampling ports without lifting the hood.
All rollers come standard with Product Link™ Elite, which captures critical operating data, monitors machine health and provides service reminders and fault code alerts to improve fleet management. A number of optional technologies are available for the new GC series, Machine Drive Power (MDP), compaction meter value, mapping and machine-to-machine communication.
